Chennai, Oct 22 : The Congress, aspiring to come to power and usher in Kamaraj rule in Tamil Nadu, seems to be emulating the two Dravidian parties in the state (ruling DMK and AIADMK) of luring film stars
to woo the voters in the Assembly elections due in May next year.
After popular Tamil actor and comedian S V Sekhar met Congress youth icon Rahul Gandhi and expressed his desire to join the party, today another actor and prominent theatre personality Radha Ravi also met the AICC general secretary in New Delhi.
The son of legendary yesteryear actor late M R Radha, Mr Radha Ravi had a meeting with Rahul Gandhi at the AICC secretary's residence this morning and said he has been invited to join the party.
Exactly a month ago (September 22), Mr Shekher met Mr Gandhi and was all set to join the Congress soon.
The possible joining of two film stars in the Congress comes at a time when both Mr Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi pronouncing that the Congress should re-emerge from the shadows of the Dravidian parties and make efforts to strengthen the party's base in Tamil Nadu.
Mr Gandhi had recently revamped and strengthened the Youth Congress in Tamil Nadu.
Ms Gandhi during a public meeting in Tiruchirapalli recently said the party should emerge stronger on its 'own' in future.
''We discussed the political situation in Tamil Nadu and Mr Gandhi invited me to join the Congress. I will take a good decision within a week,'' Radha Ravi told a private Tamil satellite TV channel in New Delhi after the meeting.
